Following months of discussions of the Ritual, Finance, Building/Facilities, Education and Governance subcommittees, the Boards of Directors of Congregation Beth El in Fairfield and Congregation B’nai Torah in Trumbull have both voted unanimously to move forward with the development of a proposed plan of consolidation of the two synagogues.
In an era of declining membership and challenging finances, we see the consolidation of Beth El and B'nai Torah as a proactive and creative way to steward our institutions so that we can grow and thrive. We look forward to doing everything we can to create a stronger and more vibrant Conservative Jewish community. Our goal is to do so with transparency and integrity, informing you of our progress as the process continues.
A steering committee composed of members from both synagogues will continue to work towards this plan. Once the steering committee and the respective boards have developed the plan of consolidation, it will then be put to a vote of the members of each congregation with a goal of taking effect by March 31, 2023.
This is an exciting time for our Jewish Community. Join us as we build our future together!
